This is a screenshot from the
Social Explorer. Using the 2000 Census data on a zip code level, you can view spatial socioeconomic information for any part of the US. Shaded regions in this map represent the percentage of people in that zip code living in poverty. Follow the link if you want to view other data.
Any comments?
I just figured there would be a dark red area around Grand Prairie...next to the Potter's House...in Spence or Williams...or the Honors Program office...or....
ReplyDeleteChristina,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately census information only gives us aggregate data that can be broken down by states, cities, counties, or zip codes, not quite by ... dorms :)
Isn't it amazing, though, what huge variety exists in wealth and poverty in our own cities? Compare Highland Park and Fair Park, for example (i.e. just north of downtown Dallas with just SouthEast of downtown Dallas.)
Jesus said in Matthew 26:11 "The poor will always be with you..."
